On November 11, 2025, the 2025 FTA Super Ingredients Conference was abuzz with excitement. Natural Field Co., Ltd.and FTA jointly held the launch event of the 《2025 Ashwagandha White Paper》" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper") at the venue. As the first domestic entity to release a special white paper on ashwagandha, this joint release marks a crucial step towards standardization and systematization in China's ashwagandha industry research, laying a solid foundation for the modern health industry application of this "King of Ayurvedic Herbs".
As a core medicinal plant in the Ayurvedic medical system, ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), also known as Indian ginseng, has a history of application dating back thousands of years. It is hailed as the "King of Adaptogens" for its multiple effects such as regulating stress, improving sleep, and enhancing vitality. In recent years, with the upgrading of global health consumption, the demand for ashwagandha in the fields of dietary supplements and functional foods has surged. According to data from Mordor Intelligence, the global ashwagandha market size will reach 760 million US dollars in 2025 and is expected to rise to 1.18 billion US dollars by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 9.2%.
However, behind the rapid development, the industry still faces issues such as inconsistent active ingredient content, lack of production standards, and fragmented clinical research. Against this backdrop, Natural Field and FTA spent 18 months compiling the White Paper in collaboration with 12 domestic and foreign scientific research institutions and more than 30 industry experts. As disclosed at the launch event, the White Paper systematically sorts out the global industrial pattern of ashwagandha for the first time and establishes a full-chain quality control system from raw material planting to terminal application. Among them, the detection standards and extraction process guidelines for withanolides fill the gap in the domestic industry.
"The release of the White Paper is not only the modern transformation of traditional herbal wisdom but also a key step for China's health raw material industry to shift from a 'follower' to a 'leader'," said the general manager of Natural Field in his speech. The company will take the White Paper as a blueprint to launch water-soluble and debittered ashwagandha extract, which has been validated by multiple efficacy tests, providing new possibilities for the innovation of nutritional supplement products.
At the launch event, as the first entity to release an ashwagandha white paper, this research achievement jointly launched by Natural Field and FTA was widely recognized. Participating experts commented that it "provides a scientific basis for dietary intervention in stress-induced insomnia", and representatives of many multinational nutrition enterprises also stated that they will carry out raw material procurement with reference to the White Paper standards. This release not only points out the direction for the standardized development of ashwagandha but also sets an industry benchmark for the modern application of traditional herbs, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of China's functional raw material industry.
